CISV has several volunteer opportunities to fit a variety of ages, schedules, and interest areas. If you need help finding a volunteer opportunity that fits you, please let us know. We aim to make our volunteers happy so they keep coming back!
Volunteer Opportunities:
Service Projects: Service is important to CISV! The Junior Branch Board lead service projects in our community throughout the year. Most service projects are designed to allow children and adults to participate so families are welcome.
Fundraising: In the past, our chapter’s fundraising committee has been open to a wide variety of fundraising ideas and our fundraising events vary greatly based on ideas generated by creative people. Whether you have an idea for fundraising or are just interested in helping out in a fundraising event, we have opportunities for you.
Merchandise: Our Chapter produces and sells merchandise throughout the year. You can use your creativity to come up with fun merchandise ideas or help with ordering, sorting, and selling our merchandise.
Chaperones for Events: CISV has strict requirements about child to chaperone ratios. We have several events throughout the year that need adult chaperones. If you are wanting to learn more about CISV and what it all means, this is a great place to start. You will get to watch and learn what CISV programming is all about. You are welcome to chaperone events in which your child is participating. All volunteers must pass a free background check (completed by our chapter) and make a firm commitment to stay throughout the duration of the activity.
Hosting an Information Night in Your Home: Our chapter hosts information nights in various communities in the Austin and San Antonio areas. A board member will come to your home and offer a short presentation and answer questions about the summer programs that are available. The host will provide a television for viewing presentations and some light snacks and drinks. Our chapter will post details about the Information Night and you can invite those you know to come by and learn what CISV is all about. Adults and children interested in programming attend the Information Night.
Mini-Camp and Selection Night Volunteers: Mini-camps and selection nights are opportunities for kids to experience CISV for one overnight stay. Adult chaperones are needed for these events. You can also volunteer to coordinate food and drinks for the event.
Leader Selection: We are always looking for qualified leaders for our summer programs. If you are connected to potential qualified leaders (leaders must be 21 years and older) through your work or through a community network, this volunteer opportunity is for you. We would welcome volunteers who can approach potential leaders about this amazing opportunity and can introduce potential leaders to our board.
Program Leaders: Our chapter sends several delegations on a variety of programs every year. We need program leaders to lead a variety of ages (11-16 years old), during summer and winter break, each program lasting 2-4 weeks. This is a unique opportunity and leaders usually become CISV-ers for life. All leaders must be 21 years or older, pass a background check, and complete an application. If you are interested, please let us know. If you’d like to be in touch with a leader from a previous program to answer questions, please let us know. We look forward to meeting you!
